What percentage of your gift goes to the projects?
100%. All our workers are volunteers and our administrative expenses are donated. We are committed to 100% of your donation reaching those who need it most.
What are the taxation implications?
At this stage we are not tax-deductible, however we hope that in the near future we can provide you with tax deductible receipts
Are we trained and equipped?
All of our volunteer workers on the ground in Burma are experienced in health care and project management. Where we cannot provide specialty advise, we ask people who can come on board to assist. At the Australian end, our auspicing body is a registered charity, equipped with all the necessary administrative assistance that we need to run effectively.
What about responsibility and accountability?
Due to some of the difficulties and instability that Burma experiences, measuring outcomes can be a difficult process. To compensate for this, the Burma Project focuses on partnering with organisations on the ground who can be consistent in their presence in terms of monitoring projects. There is always a designated coordinator for each project and we monitor and gain feedback in each area that we are working. Where there are difficulties in achieving the desired outcome, we like to focus on additional education and resources in the hope that continued investment will create impact.
Do we have a proven track record?
The Burma Project is now heading in its 5th year of operation. During that time we have been able to commit to many projects with varying degrees of success. The feedback from recipients has always been that their lives have been positively impacted. We have, thus far, been able to deliver outcomes on each project. Interruptions have occurred with events such as Cyclone Nargis, however these have only provided further opportunity for us to assist.
What is our communication process?
To reduce any additional paper expenses, we communicate by email to our supporters on a regular basis.
What needs are we meeting?
We strongly focus on protecting children and families in the following ways:
Do we have a vision?
YES! We are committed to reaching people who fall in the ‘gaps’ of other service providers. Our recipients are often small projects where we focus on a small income generating activity, or the advancement of education in the area we are working. Many agencies stipulate that they can only work in larger areas in order to justify their financial and human resource commitment. We like to work with the people they cannot reach. Women, orphans, ‘at risk’ children, struggling families and small communities.
